Oral Surgery
At Interlake Dental Centre in Selkirk, our dentists perform a variety of oral surgery procedures to treat dental issues and improve your oral health.
What is Oral Surgery?
Diseases, defects and injuries of the hard and soft tissues of the face, mouth, teeth and jaws must be effectively diagnosed and treated. This falls under the classification of oral surgery.
While we always prefer the least invasive treatment method possible for any given dental issue, in some cases, less invasive treatment options are simply not sufficient and oral surgery is needed. Our dentists at Interlake Dental Centre perform oral surgeries for a number of purposes and conditions.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are small titanium screws that function like natural tooth roots. As part of the process to replace missing teeth and restore your smile, our dentists place dental implants. Together with a natural tooth replacement such as a crown or bridge, a dental implant looks and feels much like a natural tooth.
Tooth Extractions
While we always prefer to save a natural tooth, in some circumstances this will prove impossible. If a tooth is too severely damaged as a result of injury, gum disease or decay, it may need to be removed by your dentist. Our dentists will only perform tooth extractions when the health of other teeth is threatened.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
This final set of molars erupts in the back corners of a normal adult mouth. Wisdom teeth may cause problems for your oral hygiene if they only partially emerge, crowd out other teeth or become impacted. If this is the case, your dentist may recommend having them removed to help preserve your oral health.
