Dental Appliances
At Interlake Dental Centre in Selkirk, our dentists offer custom-fitted dental appliances to help improve and protect your oral health and overall wellbeing.
What is a Dental Appliance?
To maintain excellent oral health, we need to do more than simply brush and floss. Some of us clench or grind our teeth, or play sports. For these individuals, dental appliances can help preserve and protect our oral structures, in addition to the health of our entire bodies.
At Interlake Dental Centre, we offer custom-fitted mouth guards to help improve and protect your oral health, whether you are sleeping or playing.
Night Guards
Do you grind your teeth while you sleep? Night mouth guards can help patients relieve symptoms of pain and avoid tooth damage due to grinding or clenching while they sleep.
Over time, clenching or grinding (also referred to as bruxism) can damage both your upper and lower teeth and cause jaw pain.
For these patients, a night guard can prevent contact between teeth. Since it provides a buffer, resulting damage is prevented.
If you wake up with painful jaws in the morning as a result of TMJ Disorder, your dentist can fit you with a custom-made night guard. The guard will fit snugly and ensure you receive a restful night's sleep.
Sports Guards
We encourage our clients to stay healthy by engaging in physical activity. For many, this will mean playing sports where high-impact activity may put their teeth or the soft tissue of their mouth at risk.
At Interlake Dental Centre, we want you to enjoy your time on the field, court or rink without worrying about damaging your teeth. That's where sports guards can help.
If you happen to take a hit to the mouth while playing sports, a mouth guard provides a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.
Wearing a sports guard allows you to keep your attention where it belongs - on the game instead of whether your mouth will be safe from a hit. Your dentist can fit you with a custom-made sports guard so you can join the team - and play the game, worry-free.
