What is Dental Sedation?
With dental sedation, we have a variety of techniques at our disposal to ensure patients feel more comfortable during dental procedures.
At Interlake Dental Centre, we do everything in our power to help patients feel relaxed and at ease during their dental appointments. In addition to sedation options, we're committed to working at your pace, providing calm reassurance as required, and taking breaks when you need them. Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
When inhaled through the mouth and nose, nitrous oxide works to calm patients, though they remain awake and able to communicate. This medication also tends to increase pain threshold, reduce gag reflex, lessen anxiety and make time pass more quickly.
Oral Sedation
Your dentist can prescribe oral sedatives (typically from a group of drugs known as Benzodiazapines) in liquid or pill form. Take this medication about an hour before a dental appointment. Though it will leave you awake for the procedure, it's designed to produce a calming effect to help you feel significantly relaxed.
